ELECTRONIC MUSIC COLLECTIVE – “SHIFT/TILT” RETURNS FOR SUTRO REMIX RELEASE PARTY
After a brief hiatus, Shift/Tilt returns in a new venue for it’s fifth night of sonic nirvana. The upcoming show will be held on Saturday, August 18th at the Poleng Lounge. This night will also serve as a release party for “RE:fected – The Affected Remixes” from Shift/Tilt regulars Sutro. Serving up a dose of SoCal love, LA’s Letting Up Despite Great Faults will join the night as special guests. Audio Angel will make an appearance on the mic to accompany the Below Zero DJs.
Sutro’s song “Affected,” from the critically acclaimed EP “How Things Transpire” has been remixed for a digital release featuring mixes by Grammy nominated Chris Lum, Honeycut drummer/programmer Tony Sevener, San Francisco stalwart DJ F, and Sutro vocalist/programmer Tyler Stone. “Re:fected” will be available for download on July 31, 2007 from DECOY Recordings.
Several music blogs took immediate notice of L.A. indie/electronic music group Letting Up Despite Great Faults, but once their song "I Hear You Drowning But I'm Tied" was released, people like Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie, Postal Service) and NPR started giving it their thumbs up. From there, it was only natural that band leader Michael Lee, now with the help of some highly talented musicians, put all his songs on an EP...a collection titled “Movement.”
The one called Audio Angel is actually Rashida Clendening, a transplant from St. Petersburg, Florida who was destined to become one of the distinct voices of the San Francisco, US and worldwide drum and bass scenes. You may have heard Rashida's voice in commercials, cartoons and video games as her other career is in voice overs. Yes that's her vocal talent you hear cheering you along on Konami's "Dance Dance Revolution UltraMix" videogame!
Shift/Tilt is hosted by SF live-electronic artists Artemis, FM Fatale, Karmacoda, Return to Mono, and Sutro, in conjunction with Energy 92.7’s “Below Zero” Their main focus is a monthly event showcasing live-electronic musical groups and DJs. Shift/Tilt is intended to be about more than just music. The event is an upscale, intelligent social ambience where scenesters and music heads can comfortably rub elbows while seated at candle lit tables, sipping on a well made cocktails. A mellower, more sophisticated club experience to be assured.
Shift/Tilt presents Sutro w/ Letting Up Despite Great Faults and Audio Angel on August 18, 2007 at Poleng Lounge. Chill & Groove beats from 92.7’s Below Zero Beats DJs Sinukus, Peek and Red Broad (Evolve) will be featured in the front room, between sets and to close out the evening.
